Someone may ask you to sign an authorization card.
Here are 3 things you should know:

  1. A union card isn’t a signup sheet to “just learn more,” “just to support your coworkers” or “just to get an election.”
  2. A union authorization card is a legal document and once you sign it, UFCW Local 1473 could use that to tell the government you want union representation. Signing the card gives the union the right to speak and act for you when it comes to wages, benefits, scheduling and other conditions of employment.
  3. UFCW Local 1473 may ask you for an online or “electronic signature” instead of using pen and paper. Giving your electronic signature, or even selecting a “click to accept” button could still be legally binding.

You wouldn’t sign a contract without reading it first.

Make sure you carefully read what anyone from the union asks you to sign.

And if you’re not sure, DON’T sign under pressure.
